It seems the demo has been taken down. Might just get it anyway and see if it works.

It should work. My desktop loves it so far. It's a slow, quiet game. The learning curve for balancing how long it takes to build stuff and allocating labor is pretty steep but I'm 8 hours in and not bored.

So after 10 hours I decided to give this a wait until the next update. There's much to enjoy in the game but a lot of features and tutorial instructions are missing and it's making progress unnecessarily slow. Certain tools or items can't be made or used and certain items purchased can't be distributed, all things that are instrumental to the growth of the town. It's a good game so far, and very impressive for a one-man show, but I'm going to wait for an improvement before I burn myself out in it.

Is it similar to Stronghold in terms of supply chains? Like you need to set up steel to go to the blacksmith so armor will go to peasants so they can become men-at-arms?

Yes except not all the steps and items are implemented. Some weapons and items are made by "artisans" operating out of their residences, like bows and ale. So for ale, you need a barley field, a guy that makes and bags malt out of a shop, and artisans make it from home. This adds a layer to planning the supply chain in terms of space.

But no walls, right? Is that something he is eventually planning to implement? Maybe a small keep in the center of the holdings?

There are walls under the option of building the manor but, no, not stand alone defenses.
