Wow, that does look a lot better than I'd expected!
Don't know that it would be a game I'd really get into. Probably play it through once, then that's it. But still looks pretty cool.

I saw the E3 demo on this. Looked very intruiguing. I can't do driving games so well on PC but I love any game that lets you customize stuff.

I think Tig did a review a while back. I got this on some Steam sale, started playing it now.
Not a bad game. It does suffer a bit from Ubisoft-like approach: map markers/quest markers everywhere, collecting scrap endlessly, and a lot of repetition, but the part with you building up your car with a million customizations and driving it around a cool post apocalyptic world is fun. One of those games where if you don't expect too much, it can be time well spent.

I loved it. What's funny is I got it for free on PSN and tried playing it on PS4. The racing segment in the main story where you have to blow up the lead car is beyond impossible on console. I took to the forums and saw I wasn't the only one. So many of us are incapable of proceeding beyond that point as you simply can't hit the car. On PC I was able to accomplish the relatively quickly both times I played it. I wonder if it was tweaked for console play or if shooting just sucks as usual on console.

Some things I am either enjoying or finding amusing: - The fact that main character speaks with an Australian accent, but everyone else speaks American English. - Chumbucket, from the way he gets driven around in the back of your Magnum Opus, to his religious speech regarding all things related to cars - stopping a Scrapulance by parking in front of it, hijacking it, and driving it to any stronghold - I think ~500-600 scrap right there, the best method to get some I found so far. - surviving a major storm outside, by hiding under some makeshift shelter, then finding containers of scrap ~300 scrap each, another great way to get some for upgrades - upgrading the million car parts, but also Max's weapons/armor/looks I went with the Ford Mustang Shelby looking body in the beginning, been upgrading it quite a bit, just got my first paintjob. Eventually I want to build something like the Argent Cavalier Archangel:

Another funny thing:
When you attack some oil/transfer base, and fight a bunch of guys defending it, the wardrummer beats on his drums to enrage your opponents, and the whole time he keeps yelling "KILL HIM! RIP HIM TO SHREDS!". But if you kill them all, he changes his tone and in a really nice sunday dinner voice says "hey, you know, there is an unspoken rule not to hurt the wardrummer". Hahahaha.

Nope, not yet. Just been doing missions, clearing out random stuff I find along the way, and upgrading the car. Got it the best 6 cylinder engine (no access to 8 yet), nice armor, and a bunch of other stuff.
The on-foot combat is underrated. At first, I thought oh it's that Batman Arkham style, with blocking/countering based on prompts, and fighting hordes of minions mostly. But I dunno, it's kinda fun. The animations and the feel of it are great, you get new moves as you level up, and the combination of different things and the solid feel just make it feel fun, even if it's not exactly skill based. You get into the flow of it, and just zone in, and it's like a dance or something. Once you master the basic parry/counter flow, you can add little variations to it, like a shotgun blast or a shiv, or my personal favorite, making a bunch of enemies chase me into a narrow corridor and throwing a thunderstick/ignited fuel tank at them.
The game actually got me wanting to watch Mad Max movies (I've seen parts of them in passing over the years, but piecemeal). After trying to figure out which streaming service to watch it on (that's a whole separate rant), I found a free version of the original movie from 1979 on Amazon Prime. Watched it yesterday. Wow, it was very different from the later movies, much less apocalyptic and more "civilization on the decline". Definitely very campy, but watchable. Now I need to figure out how to watch Mad Max 2 (Road Warrior in US), Beyond the Thunderdome, and the 2015 Fury Road (companion to the game), without paying streaming services a mortgage.

Yeah the combat is great. Twice on PC I cleared the entire map before finishing the game because it just never got old.

So shiny. So chrome. I don't recall what I built. I swapped the body styles around but that one you built was one of my favorites. And yes, the ending sucked, I thought. Very empty, but that's how most Mad Max lore ends.

Dramatically, it was pretty powerful when the little girl said "no one will remember me" and died in his arms , but in terms of gameplay, he went from being a grouchy halfway mad man killing everything in his path to being a grouchy completely??? mad man killing everything in his path. But again, given the setting, I guess it fits pretty well.

Lol, found a Scrapulance in one of the forts I freed up, but during the fighting, one of its wheels got blown off. Not wanting to lose the scrap, I drove it across a quarter of the map to the nearest stronghold like this: Full moon too.

Cleared the entire world of Scrotus's threat yesterday, nice to see the entire map light gray and tranquil. Now just gotta do 1-2 side missions left, and then I can try to finish the main game. I believe you can continue clearing the map after that if you want.
I probably won't try to clear everything, as there are too many small camps and such, but might try to do all the races, and upgrade the strongholds.
