Are they going to start another kickstarter any time soon? What makes you think that?

They said the other day that their last scheduled kickstarter was cancelled.

Never heard of that, Tig. You sure you are not posting during happy hour? First you thought this was an MMO, now this. As far as I know, it's their only campaign, and it's ending in a few days.

Nevermind it was an old entry on their blog.

So their Kickstarter finished today, with them raising over 1.1 million pounds (almost 2 million dollars). There was a big flurry of activity during the last few days, as apparently Chris Roberts (the guy behind Star Citizen) got involved, and asked Star Citizen fans to contribute. He really loved this Kickstarter and the lead guy over there is a big Chris Roberts fan, so they worked out some deal to share technology between the two projects.
Meanwhile, they posted almost an hour long video showing in-game footage, including dialogue, combat, locations and horse riding on the Kickstarter page.

Tig - you might be right. I am sure they will do another one for Act II and III.

Sweet Zeus have you seen #5 update about the living world? www.youtube.com/watch?v=kA8rTyIO0xELooks like the big promises are being made true. So much more than the Oblivion AI. Even the farm animals have an advanced AI. The graphics are nicely polished, and look at the motion animations. Around 6:40 there's a farmer walking up a hill. Look how he leans forward. They made their own changes to the Crysis engine. Very nice.

Yeah, I saw that one, it was awesome. Did you see the lumberjack at the end, cutting wood, and he hits his thumb? This game reminds me of Gothic games from early 2000s, which were from another European company. They also had amazing NPC scripting/AI compared to Bethesda games, where every NPC was scripted to behave very realistically. Not only would people do basic stuff like go to sleep inside their huts at night, and come out during the day, but it was much more detailed, with people sitting around campfires in the evening, some fixing up their houses, some cooking, some pissing behind the building, and so on. When you combine that kind of stuff, it really gives the world a sense of realism and a great atmosphere, which I'm hoping these guys can replicate.

TBH, that kind of detail doesn't really interest me. It's like reading a novel where the author tells you every time a character uses the bathroom.

Wicked, the big game I noticed this with was Red Dead Redemption. You'd come across things going on where they make the world seem to keep on moving despite the player being around which to me is awesome. I have no read up as much on this game as I should since it does look amazing. My only problem is still the size, half of GTA 4 and not anywhere close to Red Dead Redemption or GTA V. With huge cities and castles as they claim seems a little cramped no? I was expecting at least a vast forest full of animals to hunt in that would make up that size.

Yeah I had said that earlier as well. Very concerned with the size of the map for it to be "open world".

Cmon at least 3 miles of forest, cant be that hard to duplicate trees and rocks with a couple streams flowing through it and an area to hide out in. I wanna be robin hood! I tried seeing if anyone had mentioned it to see if the devs replied but we appear to be the only ones who realize how small it is. From what I can see that is just Act I and Act II and III will add more to the map and different maps.

It's actually not that small or anything, size wise. In one of those update videos (don't remember which one), the designer mentions the world is roughly the same size as Red Dead Redemption, and with roughly the same density. This will make it much less dense than Bethesda games, where you literally walk into something every 10 steps, but overall size-wise, not that different.
@fantasia In my opinion, it's a little different with books, because with those, your mind kinda sets the scene and creates the imagery, so everything is already realistic, whereas with video games, most game worlds tend to be very lifeless because of the lack of detail, and these kinds of advanced behaviors really fill things out.
