I'm worried about the level of promises being made. While the trailer was made "in-game", there's no way they can promise that level of detail in the characters, animations, and scope of a single battle and have all of it fit in a bitstream, even if everyone is pushing T1 lines. Near the end, the player perspective combatant drops an enemy. The enemy behind him looks down at his comrade before looking up to fight. Great detail, but I'm curious if that's just in-game engine or the level of detail they're pushing for.
Secondly: only 9 square kilometers? Are you kidding me? This will be 1/10th the size of Red Dead Redemption's map. For someone who likes to wander in online games, I'm not happy.

They did mention that that the kind of stuff they are doing with it is only possible on next gen consoles (and PCs), and also that they are still working out the details of how to implement large scale battles. Maybe they ll dial down some details for the battles, but keep them for the rest of the game, no idea.
As far as the size, that's the unfortunate consequence of not being able to get publisher funds. To make games the size of Elder Scrolls, you really need a lot of money, and you can't raise that much on Kickstarter or from a private investor. Keep in mind though, the whole thing is really 3 acts together, so it's three times the size, although it will take a while longer for it all to come out the way they are doing it. I do agree though, that one of the biggest draws of those types of games is the size and scope, so it would ve been much better if they could ve found the money and made the whole game together, but what can you do. My take on it is, if they have a successful campaign and get to make the game, two good things can come out of it, besides the game itself. First, they could establish themselves and the brand, which would allow them to gain money and recognition and then make larger games, kinda like The Witcher. The first game in that series was smaller as well, the second larger, and now the third is aiming to be a huge open world game like Skyrim. Secondly, it would just show the publishers that they need to pull their heads out of their .... and allow other games in a similar vein to be made.
Meanwhile, I read the info, and a lot of stuff sounds really awesome. Not sure how the combat system works exactly yet, I am a little skeptical of the prompts they mention, but looks pretty good. Stuff like skill based crafting (including brewing booze, oh hell yeah), multiple layers of clothing/armor, having to eat and food spoiling over time, political intrigue, detailed NPC schedules, etc sounds so damn good.

There is no forum on the game's official website. The Kickstarter mentions forum access for people who donate, so maybe they will put it up later? Holy cow, the KS campaign has already raced past the halfway mark in less than a day, looks like they will make the goal. Would be pretty awesome if they raised a ton of extra money like Star Citizen and some of those other games, maybe then they can convince their investor to fund the whole thing at once, or at least add more content to the first act. Another very in-depth preview on Rock, Paper, Shotgun: www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/01/22/mega-impressions-kingdom-come-deliverance/This one explains how the combat works in more detail, among other things. So you can specify which body part to target on the enemy (out of like 18 total), and also, there is this bullet time feature, where if you time a block/parry correctly, time slows down and you get QTE type prompts which give you options to press some buttons to perform some combo moves. I am in general not a big fan of bullet time and QTE, but their guy claims it's very technique driven and challenging, so I guess I'll give them the benefit of the doubt until I see it in action.

Wow, this thing took off like wildfire. Fully funded (at 300k pounds or 500k dollars) in 30+ hours, less than 2 days. Guess we are not the only ones who like history. It's causing a buzz all over the internet too.
Makes those publishers look like idiots too, as with this kind of interest, there is obviously a very healthy market for these kinds of games. Ironically, Daniel Vavra, the lead designer, mentioned on KS that some of the producers they talked to (the ones that refused to publish the game) have personally donated to the Kickstarter campaign. Haha.
Would love to see what kind of stretch goals these guys can come up with. Hopefully extra content is one of them.

Very exciting stuff. I really hope a publisher picks them up that knows to leave them alone.

Whoa whoa whoa wait a minute... It's just an RPG, not MMORPG, right?

Yep, single player RPG.
They came out with like 4 updates on the KS page today. The third one is very interesting, as it describes their dealings with traditional publishers in more detail, pretty cringeworthy stuff, but it also suggests that publishers are really not confident in new gen consoles at all, and there might be a deficit of games for those until they establish themselves.
The final update outlines their initial stretch goals, which were kinda disappointing to me. Authentic medieval Czech music, orchestras for cutscenes, a line of sidequests for a female character (some people were complaining that the main character is male), and improved motion capture for animations and voices. These are all kinda meh, I would much rather had them increase the scope or something.

Yeah me too but since it's single player and not MMORPG I feel a little better about their grander promises. I don't think I'll donate tho. Was wanting a community experience.

Over 720,000 pounds (well over a million dollars) with 7 days to go.
They have been posting very interesting video updates detailing various parts of the game (historical authenticity, horses, etc) on the KS page, and just posted a video update dedicated to combat. I was very impressed. Still got a lot of questions about various parts, but based on the video, it sounds like they are really pushing the boundaries in video game melee combat. The stuff they do seems way beyond games like Mount and Blade and Chivalry. Also there is a scene with you standing among hundreds/thousands of soldiers before a massive Braveheart-like battle that just gave me goosebumps.

This game looks great and sounds amazing but I don't see the small size your talking about Tig. Where did you see that at? You'd need a San Andres or at least Red Dead Redemption size map to siege, battle, hunt and hide on in my opinion. I cant wait to be a highway man!

The map will be 3x3 km (9 square kilomoters) in size. They are also going for less density than Bethesda games, to make it more realistic, where you won't be bumping into a point of interest every 3 steps, so overall, the size should be fine, though the amount of content will probably be smaller.
They added another update video on KS, detailing NPC schedules and AI. Really cool stuff, the NPCs have detailed day/night cycles and adjust their behavior to the world.
P.S. Have you guys seen the combat update video? I've been watching it like 3-4 times, so excited!

They have created a forum for backers to get access to. I haven't taken the time to register yet...
